ACF Fiorentina v Juventus FC - Serie A

In recent years, whenever Juventus have saw purple, they have roared, they have panicked and they have reacted - clashes with Fiorentina haven't been boring. These clashes have brought the best out of both teams over the past five years and although Juventus go into Saturday night's clash as favourites, history suggests it will be far from a foregone conclusion for the Old Lady. We take a look at why there is reason for fans of both Juventus and Fiorentina to be confident and fearful in equal measure heading into the clash in Turin. juventus 5 fiorentina 0 Year One In March 2012, Antonio Conte was foaming at the mouth as his Juventus side hungrily hunted down Massimiliano Allegri's AC Milan at the top of the table. They went to Florence expecting a tough game, although it was anything but as they thrashed their opponents 5-0 and it was the Viola who went on to help Juve take the title as former striker Amauri stunned the San Siro to plunge a dagger into Milan's Scudetto hopes. Juventus Fiorentina 2012 Year Two After summer skirmishes in the transfer market between the rivals over both Stevan Jovetic and Dimitar Berbatov, the sides finally squared off on September 25 when Massimo Carrera took the champions to Tuscany, with Antonio Conte and Angelo Alessio suspended. They drew 0-0 on that occasion but in the return game later in the season, Alessandro Matri was on target as the Old Lady emerged victorious. Giuseppe Rossi Fiorentina 4 Juventus 2 Year Three Juve smashed the 100-point barrier on the way to an incredible title success, losing only twice all season, with one of those defeats coming against the Viola. Despite going 2-0 up at half-time in Florence, an incredible turnaround saw the Gigliati hit four goals in the space of 14 second half minutes, including a Giuseppe Rossi hat-trick, but the champions gained revenge with a 1-0 win in Turin and also eliminated the Viola in a dramatic Europa League tie. Juventus Fiorentina Year Four Following another scoreless stalemate in their first meeting of the season, Juventus won a thriller 3-2 later in the campaign thanks to an inspired performance from Carlos Tevez. In the Coppa Italia, the rivals met at the semi-final stage and after Mohamed Salah fired the Gigliati to the win at the Juventus Stadium, Fiorentina capitulated in the second leg and were beaten 3-0. Soccer: Serie A; Fiorentina-Juventus Year Five The dramatic games continued into last season with Paulo Sousa bringing his charges to Turin in December but after Josip Ilicic fired them in front from the spot, they fell to a 3-1 defeat. In the return clash in Florence, the Viola were left wondering how on earth they were beaten. Nikola Kalinic scored a late equaliser but missed a penalty and hit the woodwork as Juve rubbed salt in the wounds with Alvaro Morata grabbing an 83rd minute winner.
