![CALCIO: SERIE A; LIVORNO-JUVENTUS]()
Although they weren't in any notable match action on this specific day,
Inter are still heavily involved with some of their finest playing personnel sharing a birthday. On the pitch, however, there were two epic starts to new football seasons in Italy as we recently settled back into normality following a long summer.
1941 - Member of the European Championship winning Italy squad in 1968, Angelo Domenghini, was born in Lallio. The forward, who was renowned for his eye for goal, was most known at club level for representing Inter and helping them towards two
Serie A titles and a European Cup. From the right wing, his goal rate was impressive for the Nerazzurri - scoring 50 times in 134 appearances.
1941 - Also on this day in 1941, another Inter legend was born - this time in Verona. On the opposite side of midfield sat Mario Corso, one of the finest Italian left wingers ever seen. He played for the Nerazzurri for 16 years, winning four Serie A crowns and also two European Cups. However, he wasn't as popular on the international scene as Domenghini as he was excluded from the 1968 European Championship winning squad.
2007 - On the opening day of the Serie A season, David Trezeguet bagged a hat trick as
Juventus ran riot against Livorno winning 5-1. A crazy encounter saw four of the game's six goals scored after the 86 minute mark, punishing fans who headed home early. Vincenzo Iaquinta also claimed a brace for the Bianconeri, with Massimo Loviso grabbing a consolation with the last kick of the game.
2012 - Fiorentina left it late to come from behind against
Udinese on the opening day of the new Serie A season, beating the Zebrette 2-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Brazil midfielder Maicosuel gave the visitors the lead after 28 minutes, but with 23 minutes to go in the match the game switched in momentum. Stevan Jovetic scored once, and then once again in stoppage time to hand La Viola three points.
